Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope everyone had a fun and safe Thanksgiving, filled with great memories with family!!  I am excited to see all the kidos on Monday.  I know it has been a few days, so it is important they get plenty of rest to start our week on in a fun, healthy way!

Please remind your child to dress warm this week, as this nice weather is supposed to be changing.  We will go outside unless the wind chill is below 0 degrees.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

No Secret Sack

We will not have Secret Sack this week.

Friday, November 22, 2013

A few notes for next week.

With the short week, we will review and wrap up the skills we were learning last week.  We will focus on nouns, verbs, adjectives and adding doubles plus one.  We will also complete Thanksgiving projects!

We learned about the history of the Cat/Griz football games.  This year will be the 112 time they play each other.  We made predictions about tomorrows game and graphed the results.  Our class predictions show 13 students think the Griz will win and 7 think the Cats will win.  We talked about how predictions are our best guess based on what we know.  It will be fun to see the outcome!

Thank you so much for sending in snacks! I really appreciate it!!

Have a safe and fun weekend!

Secret Sack Next Week

Because of the short week, if your child shares secret sack on Thursday or Friday, please have him/her share on one of the days we are in school next week.  You do not need to let me know what day your child is sharing ahead of time.

Please check the secret sack link for the topic this week.

A Few Notes

Check for a letter in your child's backpack regarding Remind101.  If you have any questions, please contact me.  Next week will be a review of the skills we have practiced the past four weeks.  Our Secret Sack topic is bring anything with the short vowel sound of a, i or o.  Short vowels are not the sound said as the vowels name.  We call that long a, i, o, and we will share those later this year.  Examples of short vowel sounds are cat, bat, man, kit, miss, lift, cot, dog, frog.

Reminder:  Wednesday is an early release day. School will be dismissed at 12:00.  Please send a snack with your child.  No school next Thursday and Friday.

Have a safe and fun weekend!!

Remind101

I have added a new link titled Remind101. This is a new way to know what is going on in your child's class through simple text reminders. (Example text reminders would be secret sack topic, early outs, picture days, etc)
You will send one text to sign up for Remind101, although after that I will only be able to send texts out from this number.  If you need to get ahold of me, do not text this number as this is simply a computer generated number and not my actual phone number.  I will not see your texts!

I will be sending a letter home with more details.  I would love to have everyone on our Remind101 list.  Feel free to have these messages sent to both "mom and dads" cell phones if you'd like. (anyone who may benefit from these messages may sign up)  To receive these messages simple text the message "@missherg"  to 406-545-1899.  You can put your name in how ever you would like it to appear for me.

Thanks :)

Cat/Griz Basket

Thank you to those of you who have purchased items for our Cat/Griz baskets.  Please continue to send in items as you are able to.  Cat and/or Griz items may be donated.  We will let you know where we stand and if we need more for a basket.  The Arrowhead Staff truly appreciates your donations as the money raised helps purchase the technology that is implemented into every classroom across your child's school.  Without these funds, we would not be able to purchase educational games for the Ipads and computers, along with other educational memberships to help your child learn and grow.

A few things!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Labor Day weekend. We are having a great second week together! I  will be sending a note home tomorrow regarding Secret Sack.  Please look for the day your child is scheduled to share Secret Sack.  This activity is ongoing and will begin Monday, September 9.

We use our markers, maker boards and erasers everyday in first grade! Please send in an erasaer for your child to keep at school throughout the year.  You do not need to buy an eraser specific for this.  A small piece of cloth works great! Examples: washcloth, dishtowel, small sock, etc.

Thank you so much for you help!

Thank you for a great first week!

Thank you for helping make the first week of school fun, rewarding and a positive experience for your child! We had a lot of fun getting to know one another last week. Our week was filled with making friends, learning school rules and understanding classroom routines. Next week will be great, as we will continue to practice procedures through all curricular areas.  My goal is to see that every student has a positive learning experience, in a fun, safe and comfortable environment each and everyday!

Have a relaxing and safe Labor Day weekend!

Welcome Back

Welcome to the 2013-2014 school year! I am very excited for a wonderful year together, filled with positive learning experiences.  I will update our classroom blog on on a weekly basis.  Please check the blog for our secret sack topic, along with the curricular skills we will be focusing on throughout the week. We have a new reading program called Lead 21 this year.  I am very excited to implement this new program into our classroom.

On occasion, I will also include a family discussion/trivia question.  If you discuss this with your child and write a simple note stating you talked about it, your child will earn a sticker or a prize from the treasure box.  Communication is a vital component for a successful school year.  Therefore, please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions, concerns or information that would be beneficial to your child's education.  I have posted all forms of contact info on the welcome letter received August 26 at meet and greet.
